For vets and nurses
The following documents have been produced solely for veterinary staff providing care to cats in the care of Cats Protection (CP).
The guidance applies veterinary shelter medicine principles to issues not infrequently faced by CP. The guidance is not a substitute for specific clinical judgement and veterinary advice for individual cats, as it is appreciated that all cases are different. The guidance and protocols do not translate to owned cats, where husbandry, infectious disease risks and feline stresses can differ significantly.
Vets may also find other sections on the website of specific interest, such as the neutering section and our public ‘essential’ and ‘veterinary’ guides.
Cats Protection veterinary profession survey 2019
The UK's leading feline welfare charity is seeking information on the veterinary profession’s perception of its work. It is seeking anyone who works within a practice setting to complete a questionnaire. The questionnaires are available within the recent edition of the CP Clinic magazine and also online at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/cpvetsurvey
Conclusions drawn from the questionnaire will be used to improve the way the charity works with and supports the veterinary profession. As an incentive to putting pen to paper all entrants leaving contact details will be in with a chance to win one of five luxury M&S food hampers. Closing date for the survey is 30 September 2019.
